The Making of Claire

I am a terrible blogger...Since my last blog failed terribly I decided to just start fresh! I am going to briefly review the 9 months before Claire was born.

We found out that we were pregnant on a Sunday morning at the end of October. I woke Eric up freaking out because I was so excited! It took him a few minutes to process what I was telling him....Needless to say he was thrilled once he woke up enough to understand what I was saying! We then proceeded to tell our families about the good news! They were very excited but we decided not to tell our extended family until the start of the new year just to be safe.

Jumping forward to February the 11th we went and got the 20 week ultrasound and found out that we were having a little girl! Eric and I as well as the ultrasound tech and one of the two medical students that were in there all thought that it was going to be a boy. We were quite surprised when the tech said that she was a girl. Eric was so shocked that he asked her to check again! I couldn't help but laugh! I soon became excited but also fearful that my house would be taken over by pink! As most of you probably know I have never been a fan of the color pink so knowing I would have a girl worried me but now I actually like pink (most of the cutest little girls clothes and accessories are pink so of course the color has grown on me).

Jumping forward again when we returned from our brief trip to Denver I went to the doctor to get checked out since Claire would be coming in a few short weeks. Unfortunately when we went into the doctor she didn't think that she was in the head down position anymore so she referred me to the paranatologist (I think that's how it's spelled). When we went to our appointment they found that she was in a frank breach (that is where she is breach with her feet up near her head, like she is folded in half) with the chord around her throat. Unfortunately to top it off my amniotic fluids were too low, this made it so that I had to go to the doctor 3 times a week until she was born to get stress tests and make sure that she was getting enough oxygen.

All went well and Claire was born on the 24th of June via a scheduled C-section. She has been a wonderful blessing in our lives! She was born at 2:19 weighing 8lbs and 19 inches long! Here are a few of our favorite pictures of the birth and our stay in the hospital!

After I got the epidural, just before they took me into surgery.
Eric is looking hot in that white jumpsuit huh?

Sweet Claire getting wiped off before I get to see her the first time.

My first time seeing Claire, I couldn't even touch her because they had my arms tied down while they put me back together.

All Clean after her bath...holding daddy's finger

My first time getting to hold Claire! Such a wonderful moment!!!!

Proud daddy! I love this picture!!!!

Claire loved her grandma from the beginning!!! I loved having my momma there with us! It meant so much having her here! Her help made life those first couple weeks so much easier!

Eric's first time changing a diaper! He did a great job but he had to use two diapers since she decided to deliver a present in the middle of him changing her diaper...haha

Claire's first and only visitor in the hospital other than Grandma! Our friend Haley Sng came and spent some time bonding with Claire!!! They are great friends already!

Our first family Photo! Yeah, I know I look....interesting....it was because of all the drugs!

Such a beautiful little girl!!! I love her!!!!

Getting ready to leave the hospital...(we had a lot of bags since we were there from Monday through Thursday afternoon) She looks so tiny in her car seat!
